Carry on past the Canadian Memorial and there is a cross roads. Turn right here, onto the D6 which later becomes the D107, taking you to Longueval village. Before you get to Longueval you will reach a T- junction. As you stop you should see a wooden cross (see ST44.html) on the bank to your right. This cross, replaced in the 1980's, is to the Bristols Own.
Turn right and go straight in to Longueval. As you stop for the crossroads in the centre of the village you will see a recent memorial. This is dedicated to the Seaforth Highlanders.
Turn right at the crossroads (D20) and head towards Guillemont - about 1.5 kms.. Ahead are the remains of La Sucerie, a derelict sugar beet factory. Over on the left is the village of Ginchy. Upon entering Guillemont village, take the only right turn (D64) and you will shortly reach Guillemont Road Cemetery. The ground here was hotly contested in the 1916 battles. It was originally an Advanced Dressing Station. In one of the original 1916 graves is the body of Lieutenant Raymond Asquith of the 3rd Grenadier Guards. He was the son of the Prime Minister, Lord Asquith.
